Because the fatty acids typically originate from coconut, some brands lean into "coconut-derived" language in marketing. That is generally accurate, but remember the INCI name itself, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, does not reference coconut at all. A regulator reading a filing sees the INCI name only.
