- Check for the substance under related family names. Some Hotlist entries cover a class of related compounds rather than one specific molecule, and your ingredient might fall under a broader family heading.
- Don't stop at the first match. A raw material can trigger more than one Hotlist entry, particularly blends and extracts with multiple active components.
- Re-check the current Hotlist before every filing, not just once when you first formulated the product, since entries get added, removed, or have their conditions revised over time.
